Elements is a brand of original designer jewellery created by energetic young designers in the United Kingdom and China with a simple mission: to give the world access to ancient Chinese craftsmanship before it is lost forever.
The Elements brand is owned by China Jewel Limited, a company with operations in England’s West Midlands (the heart of England’s jewellery industry), Beijing (a centre of art and design in China), and Southwest China (the ancient home of handmade filigree).
Elements jewellery makes ancient Chinese craftsmanship accessible through innovative, wearable, modern designs made with traditional skills. Our jewellery is beautiful, ethically made, and rich in culture and history.

Art Of Filigree

Elements jewellery incorporates traditional handcraft skills deeply rooted in China’s history and culture. One such skill is handmade filigree, made of fine wires of silver or gold coiled to form complex and delicate patterns. Filigree with gemstones, enamel, and gold became an Imperial Appointment in China’s Warring States period (770-221 B.C.) and death awaited anyone who attempted to acquire a piece of filigree without Imperial Decree. For centuries after first contact with China, European nobles and royalty coveted these rare, almost unobtainable artefacts.
Elements jewellery represents a revival in the economy, art, and teaching of filigree. Unique, light, and modern designs offer elegance without bulk. Creative young designers and fresh apprentices work alongside some of the last of the Masters in this craft.

About Us

Tang Jing is the founder of China Jewel and the Elements brand. Tang Jing is from Szechuan province of China. She studied jewellery at Beijing University of Technology and then apprenticed in rural Southwest China where the Miao ethnic minority preserve ancient handcraft skills. She now lives and works in Britain with operations in Britain and China.
Design activities and exclusive works are undertaken by Tang Jing and a community of designers and experts in the UK and Beijing. Our more popular items are hand made in workshops located in the mountains of Southwest China. Masters and apprentices invest weeks of labour in each piece. Only the purity and ductility of the silver and gold used in the filigree process helps to safeguard against breakages and expensive lost time.
Elements brings together energetic young designers across the UK and China with a simple mission: to give the world access to ancient Chinese craftsmanship before it is lost forever.

Hallmarking

Because we operate out of Britain, all of our solid gold items and all silver items over 7 grams will be hallmarked by the independent Birmingham Assay Office, bearing our designer
initials (TJ) and the Birmingham Assay Office insignia. This is your guarantee of quality. Please be aware that even our ‘pure’ 99.9% silver can sometimes be hallmarked as ‘sterling’
silver. This is because the complexity of filigree and the number of welding and braising processes involved can introduce impurities into the metal. Only pure silver and gold can be
extruded into fine wires to make filigree, but the final product is heavily worked with many hours labour and many complex processes.
